Ayaş Ilçesindeki Adolesanlarda Fiziksel Aktivite Düzeyinin Postür, Ağrı ve Anksiyete Üzerine Etkilerinin Incelenmesi.
Özet
The main aim of this study was to investigate the effects of physical activity level on posture, musculoskeletal pain, exam anxiety and sleep quality in adolescents. 313 volunteers with a mean age of 16,6±1,5 years attending high school education participated in our study. International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to assess the physical activity level. Five angular measures were calculated from lateral standing photographs of subjects for posture assessment. Cornell Musculoskeletal Disorders Questionnaire was used to assess musculoskletal pain. Test Anxiety Questionnaire was used to assess exam anxiety and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index was used to assess sleep quality. According to the results of IPAQ scores; only 14 % of subjects participated in a regular sport activity, 39 % did not participate in any kind of rigorious physical activity and 42 % of the subjects were inactive. According to the results of the Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire 39,6 % of the subjects reported a discomfort in at least one body region, 40,9 % of these subjects claimed that the discomfort interfered with their academic activities. Lower back, neck and back were the most frequently reported musculoskeletal discomfort body regions; reported with the percentages of 18,5 %, 18,5 % and 16,3 % respectively. Physical activity levels did not affect posture angular measurements (cranivertebral angle p=0,134 craniohorizontal angle p=0,875 trunk angle p=0,858 lumbar angle p=0,528 sway angle p=0,468) nor sleep quality (p=0,714). Neck and low back pain, test anxiety scores were higher in partcipants with higher physical activity levels. The results found in our study, neck and back pain reported in subjects with high physical activity level may be related to high risk of injury as a consequence of high physical activity level. High test anxiety detected in high physical activity level may occur because of not having enough time for academic activities. Low sport participation rate detected in this study is alarming. Adolescents should be aware of the importance of performing regular physical activity.
