Web Destekli Öğretimin Öğrencilerin Mesane Kateterizasyonunu Öğrenmelerine Etkisi
Abstract
This experimental study was performed on students in order to assess the effect of webenhanced education on student?s learning of urinary catheterization. A total of 155 students enrolled at Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department and the Hacettepe University Nursing Faculty during the 2011-2012 academic years, constituted the population of the study. Study (n: 59) and control (n: 52) groups were formed by determining the availability of computer and internet access means of the students within the scope of the study. The course content prepared by the researcher was transferred to the control group through the lecturing, question-answer, discussion and demonstration in class and then students' knowledge and skill levels were measured by using the achievement test and skill check list. After two weeks, studying the course content on the web site, students' knowledge and skill levels were measured again. Later study group participated in in-class instruction and their knowledge and skill levels were measured again. Numbers, percentages, mean, standard deviation were used in data assessment of students and study group students? knowledge and skill scores were assessed through the significance test of the difference between the two means in dependent groups. According to findings, it was determined that the score averages of the achievement test of the study group after the web enhanced education was 15.02±2.43 and that the mean score of skill check list was 28.24±4.13. After in-class instruction, it was determined that the mean score of achievement test was 17.32±1.78 and that the mean score of skill control list was 30.81±2.35. It was determined that the mean score of control group?s achievement test was 14.08±3.23 and that the mean score of skill control list was 23.71±6.25. In this study mean scores of study group were found to be higher than mean scores of the control group. Suggestions were proposed based on the result of the study.
