Doğum Ağrısının Yönetiminde Kullanılan Nonfarmakolojik Yöntemlerden Masaj ve Akupressür Ün Algılanan Doğum Ağrısına, Gebenin Anksiyetesine ve Maliyete Etkisi
Özet
This research was conducted to determine the effect of massage and acupressure as non-pharmacologic methods, used for labor pain control in initial
phase of labor, on perceived labor pain, anxıety of pregnants and cost as a randomized controlled study between the dates August 2012 and March 2013 in Dr.
Zekai Tahir Burak Women Health Training and Research Hospital. Participants in
the sampling were taken into four implementation groups as 30 people in each group
and total sample size reached 120. Women in each group were given massage or
acupressure, or both together. Women in control group weren’t given any
intervention. A 30 minutes massage was applied to participants latent phase when
cervical dilatation is 3 to 4 cm, active phase when cervical dilatation is 6 to 7 cm, and
deceleration phase when cervical dilatation is 8 to 9 cm. An acupressure band was
placed to SP6 point and a 30 minutes implementation was applied to participants in
each phase of labor by researcher. The level of pain perceived, the level of anxiety,
and mother`s labor perception were evaluated by using Visual Analogy Scale (VAS),
Spielberger's State Anxiety Inventory, and Perception of Birth Scale respectively.
Cost was calculated including medical and non medical materials, used in study.
Data were evaluated via frequency and percentage calculations, chi square test,
Student`s t-test, one way analysis of variance, and correlation and Tukey`s HSD test.
Implementations, massage and acupressure, were found to be effective on reducing
initial phase labor pain and anxiety, and on positive perception of labor. But, it is
determined that massage implementation is more efficient than acupressure.
Massage implementation is determined to be cost efficient in the initial face of labor.
It is thought that this study is going to lead other studies which will be applied on
different patient groups that have more samplings. Massage and acupressure
implementations are suggested as reliable ways on labor pain management.
