Kanserli 15-19 Yaş Grubu Adölesanların Umutsuzluk, Depresyon ve Anksiyete Düzeylerinin Incelenmesi

Yılmaz, A., Evaluation of hopelessness, depression and anxiety levels of 15-19 age adolescents, Hacettepe University Health Sciences Institute, Child Health and Diseases Program Master Thesis Ankara, 2014. This study was aimed to evaluate hopelessness, depression and anxiety levels of 15-19 age adolescents on the first diagnosis time that before starting treatment and six months later for whom a solid tumor diagnosed. The samples were comprised of 41 solid tumor diagnosed child patient from child oncology clinics of two university hospitals and one hospital attached to the Ministry of Health. As a data collection tool, socio demographic data form that is prepared by researcher, data form for impact of disease on adolescent patient, for assessment of levels of depression and anxiety Beck Hopelessness, Depression Scale and Anxiety Inventory were used. The data forms includes questions related to introductory properties about hopelessness, depression, anxiety levels and questions regarding the impacts of disease on patients' friend, family and school relationships. During the evaluation of data, Kolmogorov-Smirnov Normalizing Test, Importance Test of Two Pairs, Importance Test of Two Means, one-way ANOVA and Pearson Correlation Tests were applied. According to the results of the evaluation the hopelessness, depression and anxiety levels is rather higher on the sixth month after the first day of diagnosis compared to the first day. This difference is a meaningful difference statistically (p<0.05). Moreover it is detected that due to the treatment related symptoms, distortion in the body image, absence in school, low level of relationships with friends and social activities, dependency to the parents and loss of independency is rather higher on the sixth month after the first day of diagnosis compared to the first day and it is also detected that this rise of levels is a meaningful difference (p<0.05). According to the findings of the evaluation, it is suggested that during the cancer adolescent treatment the for lowering rising the hopelessness, depression and anxiety levels, this adolescents must be treated from psychosocial side by nurses in collaboration with the family, friends and school, and supported in terms of dependency.
