Özet
Manuscripts in Old Uighur were written with different alphabets such as Brahmi, Sogdian and Uighur. The subjects of these manuscripts include religion, language and social arrangements. Among these manuscripts found in Turfan region, there are also medical documents. Although some of these texts are hard to decipher due to serious damage, they nevertheless carry great importance with respect to showing the application of scientific medicine among the Uighurs and the elements which influenced and shaped the Uighur medical language. In this study, firstly, the word term is described. General features of the terms and the methods of term formation are explained. Then the Uighur language is studied in respect of its ability to create new terms. And information about the history, language, literature and culture of the Uighurs is given and then the medical tradition among the Uighurs is explained.
