Lübnan Ermenileri 1914-1939
Özet
This thesis examines the Lebanese Armenian Diaspora which formed between the years of 1914-1939. At the same time sheds light on the new the life of the Armenians under the French Mandate of Syria and Lebanon. In contrast to the general opinion Armenians did not left Anatolia by the forced deportation of 1915 but in 1921 and 1922 after the French withdrawal from Anatolia. During this period about forty thousand Armenians arrived Lebanon, especially to Beirut. As a result of this mass migration a huge community of refugees formed in the camps located on the north of Beirut. Those camps were heart of suffer and hunger for them. But in the meantime thanks to the political and economic privileges provided to them by the French mandate administration, they re-established their religious and laical organizations and institutions which they used to have during Ottoman period.
