The main subject of the thesis is to study the Creation story of Adam and Eve and theway it is approached in Byzantine Art. We mention the similarities and differencesamong the examples by examining the selection, sources, the iconographic features andliturgical functions of the creation scenes of Adam and Eve.Depicted since the early Christian Art, Adam and Eve figures have been pictured invarious forms until the late Byzantine Period. Symbolic scenes rendering the Fall ofMan with the salvation theme which were frequently depicted in Early Christian Erahave given place to extensively illustrated cycles from the early Byzantine art. Creationcycle that is confined with some important monuments before Iconoclasm has beenillustrated more intensively after Iconoclasm.
