Ateş Numanoğlu E. Investigation of the Effects of Core Stabilization Training on Gait, Balance, Muscle Strength, Functions, Fear of Movement and Quality of Life in Individuals with Developmental Hip Dysplasia. Hacettepe University Graduate School Health Sciences, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Doctor of Philosophy Thesis, Ankara, 2019. This study was aimed to determine the effects of conventional physiotherapy added Core stabilization training in patients with developmental hip dysplasia (DHD) on pain, pressure pain threshold, hip joint range of motion, muscle strength, balance, gait, function, kinesiophobia and depression levels. Sixteen patients aged between 20 to 60 years who identified with DHD were included to the study. Patients were allocated into two groups, which were conventional physiotherapy (CP), and Core Stabilization Training (CS). Both groups received conventional physiotherapy (hot pack, stretching-strengthening techniques and resistive training) three days in a week, totally 6 weeks. CS group received Core stabilization training additionally. Pain severity with Visual Analog Scale, pressure pain threshold with digital algometer, hip joint range of motion (ROM) with goniometer, muscle strength with digital dynamometer, balance with Bertec, gait analysis with GaitRite were measured before and after treatments. Hip joint functional assessment with Harris and HOS Joint SCore, quality of life with Nottingham Health Profile, kinesiophobia with Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale, depression level with Beck Depression Sale were assessed before and after treatments. All of the outcome measures were improved significantly after treatment (p≤0.10). There were improvements in some PPTs of muscles which were iliopsoas, rectus femoris, gluetus medius, iliothial band and adductor tendon and internal rotation ROM, hip flexor, abductor, external rotator muscle strength, stabilization limit parameter and Harris Hip SCore in favor of CS group (p≤0.10). As a conclusion, conventional Physiotherapy added Core stability training should be used in rehabilitation settings of patients with DHP in terms of CS group was found more effective in terms of PPT, balance, and hip muscle strength, hip function than CP Group.
