Özet
In this work titled "Melancholic Imagery in the Picture", it is aimed to examine what the concept of melancholy and melancholy in the art of painting is, what kind of place it finds itself in the past, and how it is imagined.
While examining melancholy as a state of emotions, dwelled on the differences in meaning and content of melancholy that have changed over the course of the history of disease, madness, genius and sin.
The examination which is made in terms of painting art, a study was carry out on the relationship between melancholic images and visual content, which emerged after the industrial revolution and which was referred to as the image of modern times in this thesis. At this stage, it has been emphasized that the process of the transformation of man's new images into a kind of melancholic image language and the anatomy of melancholy has changed. In other words, it has been analyzed that the images of modern times identified with its images in the context of melancholy. In doing so, some works of art from today's art and art history, which are thought to be related, has been analyzed from this perspective. In this study, melancholy is examined under two main headings in terms of subject and form. Besides that, in the light of these conclusions, various pictural studies carried out in this research process are explained in this conceptual framework.
In terms of art, the concept of melancholy has been associated with creativity, a kind of thinking-based situation and questioning personality; it is aimed to provide a new point of view in the process of image of this concept with the works entitled "The Images of Modern Times". In this case, the concept of the melancholy of the object has been opened to debate, and the contradiction of the melancholic image today has been researched.
