Tütün Ürünü Kullanan Bireylerin Sigara Bırakma Polikliniğine Başvuru Durumlarının Kardiyovasküler Hastalık Risk Farkındalıkları ile İlişkisi
Özet
Today, one billion people in the world use tobacco products. 12% of all deaths in the world are associated with tobacco use. 32% of deaths in the world are from CVD; About 30% of CVD-related deaths are caused by smoking, and there is a strong dose-dependent relationship between them. 62.4% of those who quit smoking stated that they quit because of a health problem. It is understood that the desire to protect health is the most important motivation source for quitting smoking. This study, which we planned to determine whether there is a difference by measuring the cardiovascular disease risk awareness of people who use tobacco products and have never applied to a smoking cessation outpatient clinic and who have applied to a smoking cessation outpatient clinic, is a descriptive cross-sectional type. The research was applied to 183 participants who applied Hacettepe University Family Medicine outpatient clinics and smoking cessation clinic between 05.04.2023-22.06.2023, aged 18 and over and using tobacco products, were included. The cardiovascular disease risk awareness assessment scale was applied to the participants in a questionnaire form. The data obtained in our study were compatible with our research hypothesis. It was observed that the study group, which used tobacco products and applied to the outpatient clinic for smoking cessation, had a significantly higher level of cardiovascular disease risk awareness compared to the control group, which used tobacco products but did not apply to the outpatient clinic for smoking cessation. The total mean score of Cardiovascular Disease Risk Awareness Assessment Questionnaire was 41.57 (±4.46) in the study group and 37.65 (±7.40) in the control group, and the difference between them was found to be significant (p<0.001). Findings from this study support the idea that informing individuals about certain personal CVD risk factors may facilitate the adoption of preventive health behaviors.
