Abstract

Psychology plays an important role in art. Psychology is important both for the creator and for the works he creates and for those who receive it. We see the inner world of the individual through his best works. We see that most artists consciously bring psychological reflections to the fore in their works. Many events such as suppressed emotions, introversion, ignored events and traumas cause chaos within us. This situation causes the individual to experience difficulties in daily life. While the artist comes to terms with himself, he actually comes to terms with the society and all the diseases of the society. The scope of this research is to express artistically the "two me" or "as we are, as we cannot be" situations in the face of such conflicts.

What is meant by Visual Reflections of Psychological Conditions; It is aimed at dealing with the pictorial or other visual expressions of the conflicts we often have with ourselves due to social pressures and traumatic events, as well as the state of being complete and whole within oneself. In particular, the visual reflections of psychological expression in art and the lives and works of artists who adopt this subject are examined. At the same time, the subject was supported by application studies. Within the scope of the thesis, tools such as painting, installation and photography were used. Experiments were made on the figure-shadow or shadow-shadow dualities as a form. In order to overlap the form and content in art applications, the problems related to the existence of the human have been focused on, based on the fact that the individual does not marginalize himself from the outside world or not, by taking on a double character and reflecting himself.
