Yüzey Modifiyeli Şeker Pancarı Küspesi Adsorbenti ile Tekstil Boyarmaddesi Adsorpsiyonunun Sürekli Düzende Çalışan Dolgulu Kolonda İncelenmesi
Özet
In this thesis study, the adsorption of anionic Remazol Black B (RBB) dye ions and cationic Methylene Blue (MB) dye ions, which are present in textile wastewaters on to dried sugar beet pulp and modified sugar beet pulp by CTAB was investigated in batch stirred and continuous packed bed column systems. From batch system studies performed with dried sugar beet pulp adsorbent, for RBB and MB adsorptions optimum pH values were determined as 2 and 8, respectively. It was observed that the optimum pH value shifted to 8.0. when 20 g/l CTAB treated sugar beet pulp adsorbent was used for the adsorption of RBB. Optimum pH value of adsorption of MB onto the same modified adsorbent didn’t change and remained at the same value. Again, optimum particle size range was found as 500-707 µm for the adsorption of RBB and MB onto dried sugar beet pulp adsorbent and all the studies were performed at this particle size range.
In continuous packed bed column studies, as the highest column capacity and yield values were reached at a flow rate of 0.8 ml/min, all other studies were carried out at this flow rate. When the adsorption of RBB on dried sugar beet pulp adsorbent was examined at pH 2.0 and 8.0, the effect of feed RBB dye concentration on the column capacity showed that the highest capacity values were determined as 36.9 and 2.6 mg/g, respectively at 500 mg/L feed concentration. At the same feed concentration column adsorption capacity reached to 140.0 mg/g in the adsorption of RBB to 20 g/L CTAB modified sugar beet pulp adsorbent at pH 8.0. For the adsorption of MB onto dried sugar beet pulp and 20 g/L CTAB modified sugar beet pulp at at 8.0, the highest column capacity values were found as 71.6 and 0.97 mg/g, respectively, at 500 mg/L feed concentration. The results show that the treatment of dried sugar beet pulp with CTAB increased the adsorption capacity of RBB significantly, but decreased the adsorption capacity of MB importantly.
For the packed column studies, the suitibility of Langmuir and Freundlich equilibrium models to the experimental data obtained for each dye-adsorbent system and for each pH value studied was examined and the results show that the Langmuir model defined each system more accurately. Besides, by using Adams-Bohart, Thomas and Yoon-Nelson models, breakthrough curves were predicted and kinetic parameters belonging to each model were optained for each dye-adsorbent system and for each pH value studied.
