Abstract

Historical and Etymological Turkish Dictionary words, phrases, etc. not included in general dictionaries, something that can be explained in the structure and meaning, consists of. There is a lot of work to be done on the vocabulary of this dictionary, which is very important among current etymological dictionaries. One of these studies is on loanwords that emerge as a result of language contact. The goal of this study is to uncover the loan words in TETTL, the second edition which revised and expanded was published in 2021.

This study consists of two parts in general and four parts in particular. The first chapter is introductory and contains general information about the dictionary, lexicography and TETTL. In the second part, language relations with its historical background and the basic concepts of classification used in the study are emphasized and introduced. Then comes an evaluation and conclusion based on the list of quotations in the dictionary. In the "Annex 1" section at the end, the list of quotations in the dictionary is given on the basis of the way they were taken, their language of origin, centuries and areas.
