Tarihi Değer Taşıyan Kiliselerde Yeniden İşlevlendirme Sürecinin ve İç Mekan Çözümlerinin İrdelenmesi: Sivrihisar Ermeni Kilisesi Örneği

Abstract

The scope of the thesis has been the assesment of the path to be followed during the process of re-functioning as well as the technical and functional analysis of contemporary function subsequent to restoration activity, taking Sivrihisar Armenian Church as a sample, which carries historical value and which is planned to be transformed into a cultural center as a result of a refunctioning process. Following the information on the study given in the introduction part, the first chapter includes the purpose, context and methodology of the study. The second chapter includes the description and concept for historical environment, protection, restoration and re-functioning. The third chapter includes the factors affecting the choise of appropriate functions for buildings worth protection as well as technical and functional analysis of intervention to interior space following the functioning. The fourth chapter investigates church structures with historical value with the purpose to specify the scope of the study. The chapter, besides the church definition, includes the history and architectural characteristics of Armenian Churches, as the sample chosen is an Armenian Church. The fifth chapter includes the church samples in İtaly which are re-functioned with new functions. The sixth chapter provides information about Sivrihisar county, since the sample chosen is an Armenian Church in Sivrihisar. The seventh chapter provides general information about the Sivrihisar Armenian Church as the field of study as well as analysis of building survey, restitution and restoration activities. The eighth chapter analyses the study area within the scope of analysis methods derived as a result of the research carried on in chapter three. The ninth chapter provides the result and assesment of the study.
