Özet
The present thesis was designed to identify the efficiency of two different types of exercise procedure, supervised or home exercise programme on functional level, mood, disease activity and pain on the patients who were diagnosed with different levels of disease activity rheumatoid arthritis. A total of 28 patients were included in this study, 13 of those were in supervised exercise (BETY) group and 15 were in home program (HP) group. During eight weeks, patients in BETY group have been taken in exercise programme lasting for 1 hour in each session for 3 days in a week regularly. A home programme which aims reducing the existent functional disability and pain were shown for patients at HP. The intensity of exercises in both groups was increased considering to individual disease activity levels. Patients' socio-demographic characteristics, function, mood, quality of life, disease activity score and pain levels were evaluated with specific scales. At the end of the 8 weeks, better results for repetative measurements of function, mood, quality of life, disease activity score and pain levels were observed in BETY group (p<0.05). For HP group in all repetative scale scores, no significant difference were determined (p>0.05). Results of this study showed that our exercise approach BETY is an effective treatment option on reducing the symptoms related to function, mood, quality of life, disease activity score and pain levels in patients diagnosed with all levels of disease activity score rheumatoid arthritis when compared to the classic home exercise program.
