Abstract

In this study, library, as a social institution, is examined on the base of communication theory. Social communication expresses the social dimension of the communication. There are some meaningful relationships between social communication and library. Library is a part of the social communication process and contributes to the fulfilling of the social communication. Communication process needs the library to realize its social, cultural and educational functions. Today, library plays an important role in eliminating the disadvantages of information being used as commercial good. Additionally, library, as a social communication possibility, ensures the information access which is a pre-requisite for the right of the communication.
