In this study, the unused wind energy potential in Central Anatolia Region was determined and modelling studies have been done. During the study, long term data were obtained from Windographer program and analyzed in the same program. After the results were translated to fit the WindFarmer program, maps were created for the project sites using WAsP Map Tool. The obtained maps and data were integrated into the WindFarmer program and wind energy analyzes were performed. When selecting the project sites, the wind energy fields to be designed are planned to have maximum capacity. Wind energy source areas were determined by using the map provided by Vaisala Oyj. Company with Google Earth program. The identified areas were examined by “multi-criteria” method and their suitability in terms of both technical and legislative
aspects was investigated in order to become a wind power plant area. In the technical
aspect, wind velocity, field slope, distance to electrical connection points, distance to radar systems installed in the region, height of the sites and distances to airports were
evaluated. In assessing terms of legislation related to wind energy investment in Turkey,
laws, regulations and communiqués were examined 61 sites were determined with the criteria determined for high energy production. Within these sites, the WindFarmer program was modeled for 5 sites with the highest wind speed, which correspond to the specified criteria. A total of 536 turbine deployments were made for these 5 sites. The results of the analysis were evaluated and the applicable wind energy capacity for these sites was calculated as 402MW.
