As the time goes by, technology improves therefore the variation of financial
products increases as well. The individuals requires financial information for managing
their income in the best way possible and to choose between financial products that has
become highly complex. This is highly related to the financial literacy. The level of
financial literacy is not just related to the indivual but it has a big importance in the name
of the economies of the countries.
In this aspect, the importance and the number of the works that are done on financial
literacy increases. The aim of this work is to highlight the importance of media in the
name of financial literacy. The sample of the research is formed with the individuals from
Istanbul and Ankara. The survey system has been used in order to collect information and
the survey has reached 354 individual.
The research shows that the individuals with higher education and income are on a higher
level of financial literacy as well. The research also has reached the conclusion that men
are on the higher level of financial literacy than women. It shows that the finance-centric
use of media does not effect the level of the financial literacy and the relation between
indiviual's financial literacy level and finance-centric social media usage is positive and
meaningful.
