Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Gerçek Hasta İle Etkileşime İlişkin Beklenti ve Deneyimleri

Expectations and Experiences of Nursing Students in Interaction with Real Patients, Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences Fundamentals of Nursing Program Master’s Thesis, Ankara, 2019. The research was carried out by using the phenomenological design of a qualitative research approach in order to reveal nursing students’ expectations and experiences of interacting with a real patient with stoma in the clinical skills laboratory. The population of the study consisted of 138 first year nursing students enrolled in Nursing Fundamentals Course in 2018-2019 Academic Year Spring Semester at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nursing. The sample consisted of 17 students selected by simple random sampling method. Focus group interviews were conducted before and after the students' interactions with real patients. In the focus group interviews semi-structured were used. The content analysis method was used in the analysis of the qualitative data obtained from the research. as a result of the research, it was determined that the students were excited about the interaction with the real patient, the interaction provided the students to be happy. students obtained individual and professional gains and also gains regarding quality patient care. the most important contribution to interactiong with real patient was breaking down the prejudices of students about patient and illness. students had positive contributions to the perception of the nursing profession. according to the results of the research, it is recommended that real patients with different ilnessess and desiess take part in learning environments such as laboratories and classrooms in nursing education.
