In this study the early Republic era Turkish novel is dealt within the perspective of
entertainment life. The theoritical background of the study is based on the concepts of
daily life and place in Henri Lefebvre, and the concepts of power, body and the place in
Michelle Focault. From the beginning of 1923 with the foundation of a new goverment,
the ruling party has made many things to generalize its own hegemonic discourse and
not only has it benefited from mass communication tools to effect the society easily but
also put literature in the order of this discourse. Firstly serial novels that play a part in
newspapers, which are a part of mass communication tools, being later printed have a
great value in terms of being circulated in the society. The writers, knowing the function
of the novel in the socialisation process have transferred their ideas through the novel,
and thus contributed to the transformation of the society. The writers in the early
Rebuplic era writers have sometimes written novels in the way that the ruling party
favors them in terms of body and place representations, adopted than sometimes they
criticised them. However, although all of the representation styles look contrary to each
other, in reality all of them, merge in the same point and all of them work for the same
ideological structure to settle.
