Comparison of Upper Extremity Functions With Cervical Radiculopathy Group And Healthy Group In Patients With Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Health Sciences, Orthopedic Physiotheraphy and Rehabilitation Program, Master Thesis, Ankara, 2019. The aim of this study was to evaluate upper extremity functions in patients with thoracic outlet syndrome and to compare patients with cervical radiculopathy and healthy group. 27 TOS patients aged between 18-65 years; 26 patients with cervical radiculopathy and 26 volunteer individuals without any diagnosis or symptoms live in Ankara were included to the study. 122 extremities of the participants were evaluated. Evaluations were made only once. Demographic data of each individual were recorded. Semmes-Weinstein monofilament test was used to evaluate the touch sensation of upper extremity; numerical rating scale was used to assess the severity of pain. To determine motor exposure; Jamar hand dynamometer was used for gross grip and pinchmeter was used for pinch strengths. Minnesota hand dexterity test, Purdue pegboard hand dexterity test and disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand questionnaire were used to evaluate upper extremity dexterity and functions. As a result it was found that fine and gross dexterity of cervical radiculopathy patients were more affected than the patient with TOS (p<0,05); general function of upper extremity was more affected in TOS group (p <0.05) and dexterity and upper extremity function decreased as symptom level increased in patients with Thoracic Outlet syndrome (p <0.05). In patients with TOS and cervical radiculopathy, it is necessary to focus on the evaluation of pain, sensory and motor involvement, upper extremity skills and functions in order to plan the correct treatment program.
