In this study, Op.58 Manfred Symphony, which is rated in the category
of Program Music by Romantic Russian composer Piyotr Ilyich
Tchaikovsky, is examined in terms of musical character, form and
conducting.
Descriptive Research and Screening Method were the basis of the study.
Besides, opinions of the conductors, composers and academicians were
reflected in the study. In the first part of the study, which consists of four
main sections, the methods and explanations related to the study are given.
In the second part, the factors affecting Tchaikovsky's art and his music are
presented. In the third part, a detailed character and form analysis of the
Manfred Symphony is presented and an idea about Program Music is given.
In the fourth chapter, a detailed examination of the conducting related to the
work is presented.
