Özet
In this study we aimed to evaluate behavioral and cognitive properties, and affective responses in children with the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). On this aim, 48 children with the diagnosis of ADHD and 22 children in the control group who were between 6-12 years of age, had IQ >70, and had no chronic and/or neurologic disorders were evaluated. All children were interviewed by using Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Aged Children- Present and Lifetime version (K-SADS-PL) to screen frequent psychopathologies for these ages. All subjects were evaluated with Childhood Anxiety Sensitivity Index (CASI) that was completed by children and with Child Behavior Checklist 6-18 (CBCL), The Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), McMaster Family Assessment Device (FAD), School-Age Temperament Inventory (SATI), The Turgay DSM-IV Based Disruptive Behavior Disorders Child and Adolescent Rating and Screening Scale (T-DSM-IV-S), Conners' Parent Rating Scale (CPRS-48) that were completed by parents. Stroop and Trail Making tests were used to examine executive functions. In order to evaluate emotional responses, International Affective Picture System and subjective and objective (skin conductance response) responses that are given to selected pictures were examined. 58,3 % of children with ADHD were identified with dysregulation profile. In ADHD group, conduct problems, oppositional defiant disorder symptoms, and ADHD-combined type were found to be more frequent when dysregulation profile was associated with ADHD diagnosis. Key words: attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), emotion regulation, dysregulation profile, International Affective Picture System (IAPS), skin conductance response.
