Sevilay Saral'ın Oyunlarında Feminist Tiyatronun İzleri

Abstract

The feminist movement that emerged in France in the 18th century was carried out in three branches at different times. The first feminist movement is called the First Wave, the second feminist movement is called the Second Wave, the third feminist movement is called the Third Wave. Although these three movements address different problems of female, they all pursue the same goal. With the 1970s, it is seen that feminism is divided into different types. These types include liberal feminism, radical feminism, materialist feminism, socialist feminism, lesbian feminism, radical lesbian feminism and Marxist feminism.In Turkey, the feminist movement emerged in the 1980s, then it began to be academicin the 1990s. The theory of feminist theater was conducted in connection with the feminist movement. Feminist theater theory was fed by several theater theories. The feminist theater aimed at making women's problems known to the people on stage, especially to female. England led the feminist theater. Many feminist playwrights in England have contributed to the development of this theatrical theory. Feminist theatre is relatively new in Turkey. The first feminist theatre community was Theatre Boyalı Kuş in Turkey. In addition to this community, there are theater communities such as Kadınların Sahnesi and Tiyatro Öteyüz. Kadınların Sahnesi, which is a part of Bosphorus University Performing Arts Community, has staged many plays written by Sevilay Saral. Sevilay Saral was the pioneer of the feminist theater in Turkey. Saral wrote the plays Yedi Kadın, Bir Kadın Uyanıyor, Beş Kadın, Kadın Masalları, Uykudan Önce, Düş Dostları, Kadın Doğum and Otobüs. In this thesis, Saral's plays are discussed within the scope of feminist theater theory.
