Behçet Hastalığında Spektral-Domain Optik Koherens Tomografi Bulguları
Özet
In this study our aim is to determine the relationship between the macular anatomy of Behçet's disease patients with posterior segment involvement and visual acuity. Patients 18 years of age and above with Behçet's disease involving the posterior segment, with inactive stage ocular involvement and no other eye pathology were recruited. 94 eyes of 56 patients and 100 eyes of completely healthy 50 participants were included in the study. All participants underwent complete opthalmologic examination. Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography was used to examine the macular anatomy, specifically the external limiting membrane (ELM), the junction between photoreceptor inner segment and outer segments (IS/OS), cone outer segment tips (COST), retinal pigment epithelium and basal membrane (RPE-BM) complex. The foveal and subfoveal choroidal thickness were also evaluated. SPSS 18 was employed for statistical analysis. The average age of the patients was 40.80±12.78 (20-68) years, average age at diagnosis was 29.68±10.03 (12-51) years, average eye involvement period was 11.21±8.16 (1-37) years, and the average age of the control group was found to be 41.33±11.68 (20-65) years. With SD-OCT, structural deterioration was seen at ELM in 12 eyes (12.8%), at IS/OS band in 17 eyes (18.1%), at COST in 17 eyes (%18.1) and at RPE-BM complex in 6 eyes (%6.4). The best corrected visual acuity of the damaged eyes was found to be significantly different from that of the healthy eyes (p<0.05). In conclusion a strong relationship between SD-OCT evaluated macular anatomy and visual acuity was found in patients with posterior segment involvement due to Behçet's disease.
