Türkiye-Gürcistan Sınırında Düzensiz Göç Hareketleri: Doğu Karadeniz Örneğinde Göçmen Deneyimleri

Depending on the increasing migration throughout the world; recently, migration movements towards Turkey have also increased in comparison to the past years. This increase revealed the need for migration studies and interest in the study of migration in Turkey and constitutes the primary source of motivation for this study. This study which is carried out from the perspective of the social work discipline and shaped by principles such as human rights, social justice, equality, dignity and dignity; has two different reasons for choosing Georgian migrants as research universe. The first reason is related to the personal life of the researcher. The second is the increase in the needs, problems and grievances of Georgian migrants since 2011 due to the rising movement of irregular migration in the Eastern Black Sea Region.
This qualitative study employs a phenomenological research design and investigates issues such as the Georgian migrants’ experiences of irregular migration in the Eastern Black Sea Region, understanding of the conditions they live in, communication with the local community in daily life, organization of the relations with the local community, and the local community’s ideas about the Georgian migrants, communication with the Georgian migrants and treatment for the Georgian migrants. Within the scope of this research, which is conducted by using the maximum diversity sample, in-depth interviews are conducted with 48 participants, 25 of whom are Georgian and 23 are members of the local community. The data obtained as a result of the interviews are analyzed in accordance with the phenomenological data analysis processes and presented as three different themes: (1) Findings about the experiences of Georgian immigrants, (2) Findings about the experience of the local community, (3) Findings about coexistence and mutual acceptance.
Based on the findings and inferences of this research process, characteristic features of the Georgian migration to the region, issue of the determination and elimination of the needs of the Georgian migrants working in the region, and the development of necessary migration and social policy measures for the coexistence and mutual harmony with local community are identified and related recommendations are provided.
