Abstract

We are facing with the concept of Occupational Health and Safety, in the manufacturing sector, in the service sector, even in our everyday lives. In this study, the concepts of Occupational Health and Safety were examined and the studies and risk assessment methods that have been presented from the past to the present are explained. In the first two chapters of the work, definitions of theoccupational health and safety made and the historical development of occupational health and safety explained. The study contains the explanation of what are the occupational accidents and occupational diseases and how the occupational accidents and occupational diseases came into being. The historical development of occupational health and safety in the world, the historical process and the perspective of the furniture business in Turkey examined. In the third part of the study, risk assessment and risk analysis were defined. In which situations the risk assessment required and the methods and the steps of the risk assessment study were discussed. In the fourth part, the application method of the 3T risk assessment technique which selected as the application method in this study is detaily explained. The fifth section of the thesis is a sample application of the 3T risk assessment technique in a company in the furniture business. In the sixth chapter, which puts out the results of the study, the general issues of the occupational health and safety risk assessment methodology are discussed.
