Ciddi, P. "The effect of video-based game therapy on treatment intensity in children with cerebral palsy" Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Program, PhD Thesis, Ankara, 2018. The aim of study was to compare the effects of neurodevelopmental therapy (NDT) session with active video games therapy (AVGT) session on treatment intensity, performance and balance in individuals with cerebral palsy (CP). 20 subjects, I-III level according to Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCSS), aged between 6-18 years, were included in study. Individuals were given one week intervals, one session, NDT planned according to needs of individuals and one session, AVGT consisted of 4 games previously experienced by individuals. Before and after intervention, the balance (timed up and go test, stand on one foot test, Nintendo Wii-Fit) and performance tests (5 steps up and down time 5SUT-5SDT and 10m walk) were applied. Treatment intensity parameters during interventions; the energy consumption, the amount of motion, and the activity during the session were measured by ActiGraph three-dimensional accelerometer (wGT3X-BT). There was no statistically significant difference between treatment intensity parameters in study (p>0,05). GMFCS subgroups in NDT; there was a statistically significant difference in amount of motion in comparison to the GMFCS I and GMFCS II + III (p<0,05). Age groups; age <11 and age> 11 were compared, it was found that there was difference in energy consumption in AVGT (p<0,05). When the acute effects of both treatments were considered, it was found that AVOT was effective on the balance (p<0,05), clinical type didn't make any difference in terms of acute effects (p>0,05), whereas the level of effect improved step down activity after AVOT (p<0,05). In terms of treatment content, it was concluded that AVOT can't be replaced by NGT, in terms of treatment intensity, in this population that is inactive according to healthy individuals, it should be suggested as a way of encouraging active participation in physical activity and treatment, in addition to NGT from a young age and considering functional level.
