Türkiye’de Enerji Yönetim Sistemi Uygulamalarının Sanayi Kuruluşları Ve Sanayide Enerji Verimliliği Projeleri Açısından Etkinliklerinin Değerlendirilmesi
Özet
Energy efficiency efforts have recently become an important intervention tool due to the ever-increasing demand for energy despite the rising global awareness on climate change and environment, and the rapid depletion of energy resources. On energy efficiency, strategies and incentive mechanisms have been developed, and efforts made to promote such mechanisms. An Energy Management System (EnMS) is a dynamic management approach encompassing plant workers and even the ecosystem of a plant with the aim of continuous improvement across the system in order to ensure sustainability of energy efficiency in industrial organisations. Owing to the EnMS approach, various strategies have been developed to enable industrial organisations to achieve high rates of energy savings in short-term and sustain such effective energy management, thus scale up the practice of EnMS.
This thesis reviews, in two dimensions, energy efficiency projects in industry which have been turned into investments through EnMS practices. The first dimension refers to industrial organisations, and the second to energy efficiency projects implemented in industry. The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), a non-parametric method, has been used as the method for effectiveness analysis. The effectiveness scores derived for industrial organisations have been interpreted on the basis of such criteria as annual energy consumption, holding ISO 50001 certification, sector, SME status etc. Energy efficiency projects have first been categorised, then analysed for effectiveness. Such two-dimensional analyses have led to the conclusion that owing to EnMS, industrial organisations have generated significant energy-related and non-energy-related benefits in short-term. Literature is abundant on macro-level studies in energy efficiency in industry, but scarce in terms of micro-level studies which will provide guidance to industrial organisations which intend to integrate EnMS on setting energy efficiency project priorities and preferences. Having relied on a dataset of energy efficiency projects implemented in industry, this thesis will bridge a gap in the literature by serving as a model for micro-level evaluation studies and contribute to promoting EnMS.
