Containing his travels, Evliya Celebi’s ten-volume magnificent work conveys different aspects of cities in Ottoman Empire and its neighbor’s like history, geography, architecture, people’s origin, cloth, food, belief and language.
Evliya Celebi recorded detailed information in his Book of Travels about people and geography of places that he visited in Caucasus regions, which starts from eastern shores of Black Sea. His first Caucasus travel headed to Georgia and Megrelistan over Black Sea in 1640. Firstly, he narrated Abkhaz clans in the part that he wrote this travel. In his second travel to Georgia in 1647, he recorded detailed information about Georgians and Megrels. In his travel headed to Dagestan from Crimea in 1666, he gave detailed information about Nogai, Circassian and Dagestan peoples and cities.
In this study Caucasus geography in Evliya Celebi’s Book of Travel’s, and people living on this geography will be examined.
