Özet
In this thesis, the historical process of site-specific art that transformed to new alternative strategies, institutional, socio-political, historical, geographical, discursive, phenomenological and functional contents of the space today are studied. By reaching the current data in the context of artistic variables with the sense of space, imagery and meaning, site-specificity tried to fit into a theoretical framework. Site-specific art, which began with institutional criticism against art commodification and was tightly tied to the physical parameters of space, showed a shift towards socio-economic relations over time. During this change process it has paid attention to experimentalism, has intertwined with land art, performance art, conceptual art, installation art, public art, hybridized with multiple rhetoric, the role of the spectator is emphasized, but insists on the inextricability of context. The most basic feature of the site-specific art is the determination of the meaning by the place, the obligatory symbiosis of object and space. In this thesis study application that have object-space symbiosis and find meaning in the space have been made. With the data and experiences gained in this research process, experimental applications were carried out which focused on dialogue, personal point of view and new visual forms and extended media focus. In these applications, space can be institutional, but also public, rural areas, seas, forests or ponds. The main axis of that the meaning of artistic productions are its location, geographical features and historical background. Paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and also video performances have been added to the applications produced with the interdisciplinary approach.
