Huzurevinde Kalan Yaşlıların Algılanan Duygusal İstismar Ve Algılanan Sosyal Destek Düzeylerinin İncelenmesi: Çankırı Örneği

The aim of this research is to measure the perceiving level of emotional abuse and social support by the elderly over the age of 60 who are living in Cankırı Ismail Ozdemir Nursing Home and Ilgaz Hacı Mustafa Akbak Nursing Home. Descriptive analysis was used in the research designed as a quantitative research. 80 elderly who were selected by appropriate sampling method, participate the study with probable sampling methods In addition, elderly who are able to perceive and respond to inquiries, have participated in the framework of volunteerism. The data were collected between January 2017 and April 2017. The data of the study were obtained by using the "Socio-demographic Characteristics Form" developed by the researcher and the "Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale" developed in the United States and the "Perceived Emotional Abuse Scale for Adults" developed by Ersanlı and his friends. The data were evaluated by using the 23rd version of the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) package program. The obtained data were tested by one-way analysis of variance, t test, chi-square and correlation analysis. The levels of emotional abuse and perceived social support level of the elderly participating in the research were examined. Depending on variables such as socio-demographic characteristics, length of stay in the nursing home, having chronic illnesses and meeting daily needs, the relationship between the level of social support and the level of emotional abuse that the elderly perceive have been researched. It was understood that the majority of the elderly participating in the survey were exposed to a moderate level of emotional abuse. It was found that elderly people with a good income situation were more exposed to emotional abuse than other elderly people. It was also found that the level of social support perceived by the elderly visited by relatives was significantly higher than the elderly who were not visited by relatives.
