Taşınmaz Kültür Varlıklarını Tanıtıcı Bilgilendirme Grafiklerinde Karşılaşılan Tasarım Sorunları ve Safranbolu İçin Uygulamalar
Özet
Information graphics, which have a great role in solving the need of informing the viewer, have been chosen as the main topic of this thesis. In this thesis study, which is prepared under the main title of information graphics operating in a very wide range of subject, this wide range which existed through the examination of information graphics of immovable cultural assets has been narrowed and the subject of working has been limited. This thesis is defining information design while it’s also giving information about the historical development of information design. In addition, the application environments that can be used to display information design, are examined and the viewers are informed about how to confront the environment. Problems that may be encountered during the information design process are discussed within the scope of design principles and elements. In this context, this thesis is focusing on suggesting solutions. In order to comment on these explanations, examples that can be examined from Turkey and around the world are identified in the frame of information graphics and their positive and negative aspects are emphasized. By the definition of these cities, it is preferred to give examples from the ones that are mentioned in the UNESCO World Heritage List, especially cities from Turkey. The information obtained from the researches and the examined samples are given by the design process in the frame of the design project in the light of informations / findings.
This thesis work, which is named 'Design Problems in Introducing Information Graphics of Immovable Cultural Assets and Applications for Safranbolu', has been carried out under five main headlines.
In the first part of the thesis; starting with the definition of information design and information designer, the development of information design in history has been examined in a broad perspective and the information about the process has been given.
In the second part, the application environments in which the information design is presented are emphasized and it is ensured that the audience has an idea about the environment where information design can be encountered. It has become easier to clarify these environments by examining them through examples.
In the third part, the design problems that exist in information graphics which is one of the main topics of the study, are discussed in the context of design principles and elements. In this section, the design principles and elements that are examined in terms of functionality and aesthetics are given, and the principles and elements listed in this context are examined in detail.
In the fourth part, various cities were selected from Turkey and around the world, which can be examined as an example in terms of information graphics, and the information graphics of these cities were examined within the scope of their design principles and contents. The positive and negative aspects of these samples were defined and an information design project was developed in the light of these discussions.
In the fifth part, the application studies and designing processes developed in the direction of visual and literary data obtained as a result of researches and sample examinations are included. In the information graphics which were designed as a project, the designs that were carried out for the introduction of the immovable cultural assets were preferred, and within this limitation, the introduction of the Safranbolu district, which is located on the UNESCO World Heritage List, was approved. In the light of these choices, introductions were made with the help of information graphics products such as pictogram design, maps, information boards and brochures.
