Özet
Methods in the Integration of Performance Arts to the Basic Design Education in Interior Design, Master Thesis, Ankara, 2017.
Methodology has an important role in education. Research shows that interdisciplinary methods bring benefits to the learning process. Since the concept of design involves many disciplines, a multidisciplinary approach would be useful for the education of design. Besides, in order to obtain continuity and efficiency in learning, pragmatic education is one of the important methods used in academia.
Creativity is as crucial as learning for a student to gain an ability of space designing. Moreover, creativity in design requires the consideration of the body and its movements. In this work, the questions of how to be more creative in the design education process, how to overcome the downsides of the students’ memorizing-based learning habits remanining from the secondary education and how to give them a sustainable self-conciousness and research-based approach has been addressed.
In this regard, in design education, the body can be used as a tool for experiencing and learning by benefitting from performance arts. This work suggests that creative drama and creative dance techniques be used as a method in the basic design education for extracting and improving the creativity of the students.
