In this study, the definition of the packaging and the historical process, what kind of changes took place during this process, and the effects of the packaging on the consumers have been mentioned. In the countries around the world, the development of the packaging industry and various packaging examples are included in this study. This thesis is a study conducted on product, packaging and illustration relations. In addition to protecting the product’s packaging, it also has a major role in marketing and catching the customer’s attention.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the effects of packaging design on consumer preferences and purchasing decisions. İllustration is the first expression technique in the history of packaging design and still has a major role in the field of packaging design. Having an illustration in packaging design is one of the factors affecting and influencing emotions. For this reason, the packagin presentation with an potent and creative illustration, facilitating sales. In addition, chocolate packaging designs were made for special days as a project of the research.
