Abstract

This thesis examines the effects of the terms space, light, and memory on individual and collective memory, in relation to art. The aim of the study is to explore the role of space in human life and art, the power of light in creating atmosphere, and the influence of memory in these processes. Space is considered not only as a physical area but also as a structure where psychological, social, and cultural experiences are shaped. Light creates different ambiances in space, while memory records these interactions, preserving the permanence of memories. The thesis investigates how the combination of these three elements in art creates a memory and spatial experience for the viewer. The scope of the study includes examples of space usage in art and theoretical approaches, as well as discussions on how memory leaves traces in space. The method involves visual works that analyze the effects of space on memory, using examples from artists. The result of the study emphasizes that space is not merely a physical entity but a concept that leaves marks in human memory and is constantly reshaped in art. In this context, an in-depth examination is presented on how space affects memory in art and how perceptions are transformed through light.
