15-16. YÜZYILLARDA YÖRÜKLERİN RUMELİ’NİN YERLEŞİM DÜZENİ ÜZERİNE ETKİSİ
Özet
The Ottoman Empire's conquest of Rumelia began in the 14th century. In parallel to the conquests, the Ottoman Empire resettled many nomad groups, the majority of whom came from Western Anatolia, to Rumelia for the development of the newly captured regions. Unlike Anatolia's nomad groups, the nomad groups in the mentioned region were assigned to various branches of work and duties in order to serve within state-organized structures. The actions of Rumelia's nomad groups were not limited to fulfilling the obligations of the organizations with which they were affiliated. They were also significant in transforming the region's settlement pattern through the settlements they established. This thesis analyzes the position of the ellici, Küreci, Yağcı, Çeltükçü, and Tuzcu groups in the organization and their influence on Rumelia's settlement patterns. Archival materials will be used extensively throughout the study, with a focus on tahrirs and mühimme records from the 15th to 16th centuries. The data acquired from these sources will be illustrated with maps and tables designed to assist the reader in the settlement pattern in Rumelia during the relevant time period. Moreover, copyright and research publications on the subject will also be examined.
