Hacettepe Üniversitesinde Eğitim Gören Uluslararası Öğrencilerin Profili, İhtiyaçları ve Sorunları
Özet
The general idea of this paper are to identify the characteristics of the international
students in Turkey, in order to understand the needs and Problems of the ones who are
studying at the University of Hacettepe in Ankara.
This research is a quantitative survey which is been done by screening method. To
collect the data needed, the E-mail address of the international students was taken from
‘Hacettepe universities’ Registrar's Office, and electronic questionnaires.
This study has been analyzed to identify students' needs for social, cultural and
psychological adjustment problems, factors affecting international students in the
adjustment process, satisfaction levels, and needs and problems of students in general.
Hacettepe University sent 1919 student questionnaires to undergraduate and graduate
programs in the 2015-2016 academic year.
Data analysis was done with the '' SPSS Version 23.0 '' package program. The
significance coefficient was taken as 0.05 and interpreted using the Chi-Square
Independence Test for reliability in tables.
According to findings, the majority of the participants came from Indonesia, Iran
and Azerbaijan respectively, and the majority of them were male, single and Turkishspeaking
students. They are satisfied that they do not participate in the sport and social
activities of the university, they are firstly private, secondly they live in state dormitories,
most of the students are scholarships and they are only families of economic resources,
the money sent by their families is inadequate and they are happy to study in Turkey and
Hacettepe University It was found that they had the most educational difference, the
distance from the university and the place they were staying, the difficulty in
understanding the lessons, and the plans to return to their own countries after the training.
Participants have come to the conclusion that they are confronted with economic
problems and their income levels have influenced their social, cultural and psychological
adjustment levels. In addition, no significant difference was observed in female students
compared to male students, in terms of their compliance, the time they spent in Turkey,
the place they were in, where they were satisfied with their education, their age, seeking
attitudes, their psychological needs and their level of adjustment.
As a result, this study aims to provide international students who are studying at
Hacettepe University with all kinds of good opportunities to facilitate the life of many
students in the field such as transportation, material income, language education.
