Lütfi Ö. Akad’ın Gelin, Düğün, Diyet Filmlerine Halkbilimsel Bir Bakış

Abstract

"In this study, the films "Gelin" (1973), "Düğün" (1974), and "Diyet" (1974) by Lütfi Akad, one of the prominent directors of Turkish cinema, have been examined through the method of film and text analysis and from the perspective of folklore studies. The visual, auditory, and textual approaches through which folklore elements are portrayed in these films have been evaluated. By identifying some folklore elements that need to be analyzed in these three films, the director's purpose in using these elements has been questioned. The data obtained have been discussed within the scope of the characteristics of folklore discipline. Furthermore, the findings revealing the relationship between cinema and folklore have been evaluated in terms of concepts and perspectives within the folklore discipline, and it has been examined how folklore elements are transferred to cinema and whether this transfer is a natural consequence of film editing.
