Özet
The main purpose of this research is to ensure harmony among children, increase
respect for differences and develop tolerance by using school social service and art
together. In this context, the effect of The Little Prince, one of the most read children's
books, on the increase in respect for others, differences, love and tolerance of 6th grade
students studying in mixed schools was investigated. The aim of the research is to offer
alternative solutions by bringing together art and school social work and to contribute to
the literature on this subject.
Mixed research method was used in the research. Semi-Structured Interview Forms,
prepared separately for 30 students, 20 parents and 10 teachers/administrators who
participated in the research, were applied. The Respect for Differences Value Scale was
applied to 30 students as a pre-test and post-test. The Little Prince book was read with
the experimental group students and the Tolerant Behaviors activity and the How Peace
Should Be activity were carried out.
As a result of the research, in the light of the data obtained from the SPSS program as
a result of the Peace Education Program and the data analyzed through the MAXQDA
program, it was concluded that the book The Little Prince increased the respect for
differences among children and increased love and tolerance. Based on the studies in
the literature and in the light of the qualitative and quantitative data obtained within the
scope of this study, it has been concluded that the combined use of school social service
and literary works is efficient.
