In this thesis, it is aimed to define the mineralogical and geochemical properties of the sedimentary units observed in the Incirlik and Fethiye region of Kazan district of Ankara, to explain the occurrence of neoformation minerals, and to identify the physicochemical conditions of the basin. The Cenozoic aged units and the units belonging to the Sakarya Zone crop out in the study area. The Permo-Triassic aged Karatepe Formation is located at the bottom of the stratigraphic sequence, and to the upward the Jurassic-Cretaceous aged Soğukçam Formation, Upper Paleocene-Lower Eocene aged Kızılçay Formation-Kabalar Member, Middle Eocene aged Hançili Formation and Pliocene aged Örencik Formation have been identified. The results of the X-ray whole rock analyses in order to determine the mineralogical properties of sedimentary units in the study area show the presence of calcite, quartz, dolomite, feldspar, opal-CT, illite/mica and clay minerals. Clinoptilolite, one of the zeolite minerals, was formed in marine deposits as a result of hydrolysis of pyroclastic material in seawater. In the lacustrine deposits, analcime and clinoptilolite observed together, were formed as a result of hydrolysis of pyroclastic material in salty, alkaline lakes. Carbonate minerals (calcite and dolomite) were developed by chemical precipitaion. Clay minerals found in the study area were determined as smectite, kaolinite, illite and chlorite. Among these minerals, smectites are authigenic origin, while kaolinite, chlorite and illite are detrital in origin. The positive anomaly of Eu in the rare earth element diagrams normalized according to PAAS in the geochemical analysis showed that the source rock of the sedimentary units is felsic origin. In addition, the other diagrams created with geochemical data show that the source of rocks is felsic and intermediate origin, and they were formed in a collision zone.
