This study aims to examine the reasons and results of the separation at the Turk
nationalist movement at 1992. The nationalist movement always was thought as a
movement that had strict discipline and absolute obedience for the leader. But this
thought blew up substantially after 1980 until 1992. This study that aims to analyze the
internal conflict at the nationalist movement between the years of 1980 and 1992 is
composed of four chapters.
In the first chapter, the rise of the nations and nationalism ideology viewed and the
approaches about the birth date of the nations analyzed. And then, nationalist
movements were categorized and it was discussed the category that included Turk
nationalism.
In the second chapter, the rise of Turk nationalism and how it transformed from
Turkism to Nationalist Movement Party examined.
In the third chapter, the impacts of 1980 military coup to nationalist movement
discussed. The critical process at the nationalist movement started after the coup,
resulted in an organizational separation. In this context, the internal conflicts at the
nationalist movement, separation process and founding of Grand Unity Party analyzed it
the third chapter.
In the last chapter, the differences between the Grand Unity Party and Nationalist
Movement Party viewed. And then, the elections results of Grand Unity Party analyzed.
Also, whether the different discourse of Grand Unity Party got into the act or not
discussed in this chapter.
