Abstract
Sustainable building and energy efficient building design concepts that are emerging within this scope are becoming more widespread by using renewable energy sources as an approach that reduce the harm caused by buildings to the environment, fulfill the necessary comfort and health conditions for occupants, create livable and healthy environments. It has come to the agenda of renewing and evaluating the existing traditional buildings due to the increasing construction, the lack of suitable land for construction and the high cost of demolition and construction. Office buildings, as daytime using places, are important in terms of energy efficiency and this is provided in these buildings by applying solar energy and daylight. By using daylight control systems the occupants comfort is provided. The aim of this study is to examine the natural lighting system and solar control elements in traditional office interiors. Lighting performance and its effect on occupants comfort conditions are examined. In this review-examination process, solar control elements will be evaluated to provide appropriate daylighting strategies and occupants comfort conditions in traditional office interiors. The method of the study is to model the sample office interiors, to inspect the natural lighting system with daylight simulation program. During the analysis process, the quality and quantity of the daylight in the interior will be evaluated with tables and visuals at different months and hours of the year. The effect of daylight control elements in the sample interior is determined and natural lighting strategy renovate suggestions are presented for traditional interiors.
