Professional voice users, who use their voice while performing their profession and voice quality deterioration; It is known that there are people whose quality of life is significantly affected. Relisious officials are also professional voice users, and the prevalence of voice disturbances is higher than nonprofessional voice users. Deciding on an individual-specific treatment/therapy program in voice disorders is only possible with a comprehensive evaluation. One of the most important components of voice assessment is self-assessment tools. These tools are very successful in revealing the person's experience associated with the problem and are frequently used in voice clinics. Some of the self-assessment tools target a specific situation or population. In the scientific researches on the voice disorders of Islamic religious officials, the opinions of religious officials have been taken, and data on voice symptoms and risk factors of the disorder have been collected using questionnaires for religious officials. However, none of these studies were specific to religious officials; A valid and reliable self-assessment tool that examines the effect of voice disorder on physical, functional and emotional domains was not included. There are different aspects of Islamic religious officials that do not resemble professional voice users in terms of the way and intensity of using their voices. In this direction, the aim of this thesis is; To develop a valid and reliable scale that examines the effect of voice disorder in the physical, functional and emotional areas of religious officials. The study consists of two stages. An exploratory sequential mixed method design is adopted. In the first stage of the study; Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 religious officials with voice disorders. Frequency analysis, one of the content analysis methods, was examined and a draft scale was formed. In the second stage; content, construct and criterion validity of the scale; test-retest reliability was tested and internal consistency was determined. After the content validity is ensured, the draft scale form; It was applied to a total of 110 male religious officials, consisting of imams, muezzins and Qur'an course teachers, with 38 voice disorders and 72 healthy voices, between the ages of 19-61. Factor analysis was performed to determine the construct validity and the final form of the 23-item scale was formed. When the known group validity was examined, a significant difference was found between the study and control groups. In the reliability analysis, the Cronbach's Alpha (α) coefficient value was found to be 0.971. Findings show that the developed scale (Voice Handicap Index for Religious Officials) is a valid and reliable tool.
