Electrokinetic stabilization is a new and developing technology used for increasing strength of soft clayey soils. The purpose of this method is to create precipitation of species by electromigration, ion exchange and pozzolanic reactions in the soil, in order to increase the soil strength properties, by means of application of electrical current and injection of ions such as calcium and potassium. In the extent of this thesis, soft clay samples were prepared artificially by use of Ankara clay and laboratory scale electrokinetic stabilization effectiveness was examined on these samples. Former studies pointed out that electrokinetic stabilization process is effective in pH conditions above 7 and the increase of strength is limited to cathode region, since reactions that occur around anode region cause low pH levels. In the study, a circular unit was used instead of the square units used in the former studies.
