V. Dönem Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi
Özet
In this study, the most powerful period of the Republican regime, in which Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was in the parliament as the President for the last time, was examined. This period between 1935 and 1939 was called the V. Period. During this period, the structure, organization and general situation of the Turkish Grand National Assembly are discussed. In this sense, examining the TGNA, which reveals the country's political policies, offers us a way to illuminate the domestic and foreign policy of the period. However, examining the cabinets and governments serving in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey sheds light on the changing conditions and how the reforms were implemented in the period.
During the years 1935-1939, all economic, legal, financial, political and social developments experienced in this period, especially domestic politics, passed through the filter of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The Assembly also pioneered almost all international contacts and negotiations. In this sense, the domestic and foreign political developments in the 5th Term Parliament, which served between the mentioned years, are also included in the subject of the study.
In this sense, the study consists of five chapters after a general introduction summarizing Turkey's democratization process. In the first part, after examining the process until the convening of the V. Term TGNA, the formation and general structure of the V. Term TGNA and the changes that took place in this structure were examined, a socioeconomic classification of the Deputies included in the parliament was made and a comparative analysis was made with the previous term parliamentary data. In the second part of the thesis, domestic policy developments that took place in this period and affected the country were examined. In the third part, the developments in the social and legal fields in the 5th Term Parliament are included and their effects on the society are discussed. In the fourth chapter, the economic policies implemented during the V. Period are discussed by mentioning the economic developments until this period. In the last part, the foreign policy policy implemented between 1935-1939 and the developments in foreign policy in this period were examined. In the conclusion part, a general evaluation covering all these areas was made and the study was terminated.
