Animation has been used in a variety of disciplines such as games, cinema, advertising and healthcare, with the contribution of developing technology and has become a prominent technique in the cinema industry. The appearance of animals or objects on the big screen with human-specific skills or the incarnation of fantastic beings have become possible thanks to animation techniques. A large number of literary texts, which cannot be transferred to the screen only through the camera, have been adapted using animation techniques. These adaptations, which were presented to the audience in an impressive visual language, became familiar to a wider audience and have made a contribution to the increase in the recognition of the works. In the production process of adaptations from fantasy and science-fiction, animation techniques are also used due to the nature of the works, and many literary adaptations are produced to a large extent with the help of these techniques. In this way, it has become easier for literary works to reach a wider audience. The works adapted through animation are especially effective in the development of a positive approach towards literary works and the acquisition of reading habits by children. While productions adapted from written or oral literary works have a positive effect on the popularity of these works; the effort to transform the narrative to another medium in a limited time and in a way that keeps its core, has led to a new quest in terms of visual language. Within the scope of this thesis, the production processes of animated works adapted from literary texts have been examined. Considering its contribution to the recognition of the source text, the question of how an effective animated literary adaptation should be has been discussed and a case study was carried out in line with the information obtained.
