Abstract
The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable scale that evaluates occupational balance in adolescents. In order to determine the conceptual structure to determine the characteristics to be measured, 109 individuals between the ages of 12-18 were interviewed through online and semi-structured interviews. In order to determine the content validity, the content validity form adapted to the Davis technique was applied twice to 10 expert panelists. After the trial form, which was created after the content validity, was applied in the pilot study, the revised form was applied to 600 individuals. Two weeks later, 153 individuals were retested. The internal consistency of the scale was evaluated by item analysis. Explanatory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis techniques were used to examine the construct validity of the scale. The content validity index of the scale was found to be 0.986. As a result of the factor analysis, it was seen that the scale consisting of 27 items showed a 6-factor structure explaining 56.7% of the total variance. In confirmatory factor analysis, the model fit indices of the structure created by factor aggregation technique were CMIN/df = 2.135; RMSEA=0.06; GFI=0.866; NFI= 0.81, CFI=0.887, TLI=0.868; IFI=0.89; has been obtained as; When the standardized correlation coefficients are all t values obtained for the items at an acceptable level and the model goodness criteria are considered; It was found that the fit of the measurement model was achieved. In the reliability calculation of the scale, ICC: 0.993 and Cronbach's alpha: 0.997 were found for the scale. Very strong correlation coefficients were found between the pretest and posttest, and the correlation between the two measurements was statistically significant (p<0.005). When the Bland-Altman graphs were examined, it was seen that there was randomness because they were within the boundaries of two agreements. As a result, the validity of a 27-item scale structure consisting of 4 dimensions was validated. The developed scale is a valid and reliable scale that evaluates occupational balance in healthy adolescents aged 12-16 years.
