Yoğun Bakım Hemşirelerinin Covid-19 Sürecine İlişkin Görüş ve Deneyimleri

The research was carried out in a descriptive, cross-sectional manner in order to examine the views and experiences of nurses working in the intensive care unit regarding the Covid-19 pandemic process. The research was carried out with a total of 125 nurses working in 7 Covid-19 Intensive Care Units at the Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital, University of Health Sciences. The data in the study were collected through the Questionnaire Form for the Opinions and Experiences of Intensive Care Nurses in the Covid-19 Process, which was created by the researchers. The data obtained from the research were analyzed using the chi-square test to examine the relationship between descriptive statistics and categorical variables. Answers to open-ended questions and similar expressions were grouped by content analysis and digitized by numbers and percentages; meaningful expressions are shown by making quotations. According to the results of the research, 86.4% of the participants and 76.8% of their family members were infected with Covid-19, and 15.2% of the nurses lost one of their family members for this reason. It has been determined that 72.0% of the nurses who care for Covid-19 positive patients in the Covid-19 intensive care units have a physical problem/distress; stated that they mostly had fatigue, muscle-joint pain, weakness, sleep disturbance, and headache problems. It was determined that 81.6% of the nurses experienced mental or psychological burnout, stress, fear of infecting their relatives, fear of being infected, general anxiety and depression. 80.8% of the participants, who had problems with their professional/working life, reported the most frequent problems as lack of personnel, heavy workload, long working hours and lack of tools-equipment/equipment. 83.2% of the participants experienced social-economic problems; On the other hand, 54.4% reported that they experienced a feeling of inadequacy or inadequacy while giving care. At the end of the study, it is recommended to take precautions against the risks that occur in their working lives, taking into account the experience and problems of the nurses who work intensively under severe conditions.
