Epics are folklore products that reflect the material and spiritual values of a nation and their way of looking at life and that do not recognize geographical borders. The Mongols have carried many famous and great epics such as Cangar, Gezer, Han Harangui, Bum-Erdene, within their epic traditions that reflect their creative thinking and skills and have been transmitted orally for generations. Mongolian heroic epics, consisting of hundreds or even thousands of lines and told with special melodies, are accepted as the best collection of the heroic history of the Mongolian people. These epics, which are magnificent expressions of the cultural heritage of the Mongols, have been the subject of many studies around the world.
The Cangar epic, which reflects the daily life, traditions, worldviews, moral and aesthetic values, archaic rituals of Mongolian speaking peoples, has lived among the people for centuries through its narrators called cangarçi and has become one of the leading oral creations of spiritual culture by gaining more popularity over time. By containing legends (domog), tales (ülger), good wishes (yerööl), eulogies (magtaal), oaths-curses (haral), proverbs (züir tsetsen ügs), songs (duu) and historical events, Cangar represents the historical and cultural memory of people and in this context, it's accepted as a kind of encyclopedia.
Almost two hundred years have passed since the Cangar researches began; In this process, significant progress has been made in compiling, reviewing and publishing studies. As a result of the increasing interest, especially since the second half of the 20th century, many monographs, articles and scientific theses have been prepared, including comparative typological studies containing detailed analyzes of the work. The Cangar epic, which has a special place in the epic heritage of the Central Asian and Mongolian peoples, has three major national versions: Kalmykia, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Mongolia. In this study we prepared on the Mongolian epic tradition and the Mongolian Cangar Epic, the text was transferred to Turkey Turkish; Mongolian epic tradition in general, Cangar epic in particular has been evaluated in terms of formation, subject, performance, history of research, heroes, etc.
